Accompanied by his younger brother and father, Spillman was able to spend an ample amount of time around the coaching staff and current players.
"It was awesome. I had an awesome visit," Spillman said to NoleGameday's Dustin Lewis. "Getting to hang out with some of the coaches and the players, other recruits too."
"Really just like getting to see the community aspects of it," Spillman continued. "Getting to hang out with the coaches, seeing what makes Florida State, Florida State."
The Seminoles made it a point to detail why they are investing so many resources in Spillman and want him to build a career in Tallahassee. The coaching staff had an entire presentation ready to go on why Florida State covets his skill set on and off the field.
"Definitely just because my relationship with the coaches. Also coming here and like seeing the reasons why they want me so badly and why they are recruiting me," Spillman said. "I haven't really seen or gotten a firm reason why schools want me and stuff like that and getting to see it, they had a whole presentation out, everything like that, which is really cool to see."
The Tennessee native enjoyed his conversations with linebackers coach Randy Shannon. Spillman says that Shannon sees his potential and believes he can help him succeed at Florida State.
"Coach is just a great man. He is filled with great wisdom. He has coached a lot of the greats. It was just awesome getting to see his background," Spillman said. "He's a great man, my parents love him. He is just a genuine and kind guy who wants to see his players succeed."
"So we had a whole presentation and some of the plays that I was making were pretty much the exact same plays of the guys he's coaching right now," Spillman continued. "He just sees the similarities. And then he also showed me NFL players making the same plays. He just showed me the stuff I'm doing right now, he sees my potential, that he can help me get to the next level and the level after that. That's why he wants to coach me."
Florida State could have multiple linebackers move on following the 2023 season. Tatum Bethune is entering his final season of eligibility while Kalen DeLoach might take the leap to the professional level. That might open a door to early playing time with the Seminoles.
"It's definitely a really big part. I know I could come and play early and get a big head start on my journey," Spillman said. "I'm just really excited for the opportunity that is presenting itself."
Spillman learned more about head coach Mike Norvell during the weekend. Norvell's message really seemed to resonate with him.
"It was awesome getting to hang out with him," Spillman said. "He is just a kind, genuine guy. A great coach. He is also a great man. That is really just what I enjoyed getting to know about him, just the type of man he is."
"It was really cool. We talked pretty much about everything. We talked about my story, the reasons why he wants to coach me and he wants to be a part of my journey. That really stood out to me. I enjoyed it," Spillman continued.
Previously a member of his top four, the Seminoles remain one of Spillman's top options. He will also visit Ohio State, Tennessee, and Georgia ahead of a likely decision in July.
"FSU's definitely one of my top schools. I've built great relationships with the coaches, like I said," Spillman said. "It was just even better coming here, getting to experience it all with them and letting my dad and brother see it too."
Spillman spent time with some of the linebackers as well as tight end Brian Courtney and quarterback Brock Glenn during his official visit.
The 6-foot-1, 216-pound linebacker is regarded as the No. 251 overall prospect, the No. 23 LB, and the No. 4 recruit in the state of Tennessee in the 2024 class according to 247Sports.
