Florida State To Host Six Official Visitors During Third Weekend Of June

The Seminoles will have one of their top targets in the 2024 class on campus this weekend - five-star cornerback Charles Lester III.

Florida State is gearing up for another important weekend of June official visits. The next two weeks are crucial for the Seminoles to set themselves up for a strong conclusion to the summer on the recruiting trail.

Sitting with the No. 11 class in the country, #Tribe24 is a promising group but still has plenty of spots to fill out. Six prospects are expected to officially visit the program during the third weekend of the month - June 14-16.

The group of prospects includes a variety of top targets, commitments, and recruits that the program wants to take a closer look at; five-star cornerback Charles Lester III, four-star safety Zavier Mincey, four-star wide receiver BJ Gibson, four-star cornerback Ricky Knight III, three-star defensive lineman Alex January, and three-star defensive back Kevin Levy.

Lester is one of Florida State's top targets regardless of position in the 2023 class. The program has invested a lot of resources into his recruitment with head coach Mike Norvell and defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. both playing major roles. Lester is coming off official visits to Colorado and Alabama. He will see Georgia at the end of the month.

The Florida native grew up a fan of the Seminoles and has visited campus twice this year. He's previously flirted with committing to Florida State. This weekend will be important in continuing to hold as the favorite in his recruitment. Lester earned snaps at cornerback, wide receiver, and wildcat quarterback as a junior. He intercepted five passes and scored four touchdowns on offense.

Mincey is a name to know on Florida State's safety board after taking two unofficial visits to campus this year. He's also a high school teammate of four-star defensive end LJ McCray, who is another player that the Seminoles are pursuing.

He took an official visit to Alabama last weekend and is scheduled to check out Miami as well. The Seminoles are still looking for another safety or two to add alongside three-star commitment CJ Heard. Mincey recorded 30 tackles, two tackles for loss, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery as a junior.

Gibson committed to Florida State in April following the Spring Showcase. He's remained steadfast in his pledge despite officially visiting Stanford earlier this month. Gibson was also on campus last weekend to participate in the Elite Camp where he displayed impressive chemistry with quarterback commit Luke Kromenhoek.

A two-sport athlete, Gibson will play football and baseball for the Seminoles. Wide receivers coach Ron Dugans and coach Norvell were both pivotal in his decision. He's one of four wide receivers currently pledged in the class.

Knight III was offered by Florida State following an unofficial visit in January. Since then, he's continued to trend nationally after a standout junior campaign where he recorded 33 tackles and an interception on defense as well as four catches for 92 yards on offense.

The Florida native has officially visited Penn State and Illinois in June. He will conclude the month with a trip to Miami, who is the perceived favorite at this point of his recruitment. Knight III has enjoyed his visits to Florida State in the past so this weekend could be important in swinging momentum.

The Seminoles started recruiting January earlier this year after extending him an offer in February. He dropped by campus in April for an unofficial visit. A high school teammate of Jaylen Early and Jerrale Powers, January stands at 6-foot-4, 325-pounds. His father played at Texas.

January has already officially visited Texas Tech and LSU. He will check out Texas following his trip to Florida State.

Levy is listed as an athlete but Florida State is recruiting him as a defensive back after offering him in February. He visited campus in March and April prior to scheduling an official visit. Levy has checked out Rutgers and Louisville this month. He's also scheduled to visit Illinois.

He played both ways as a junior and runs track at the prep level. Levy caught 19 passes for 304 yards and two touchdowns on offense while totaling 23 tackles and three pass deflections on defense.
