Four-Star Florida State Wide Receiver Commitment Visiting Alabama This Weekend
There are just over 24 hours remaining until Florida State kicks off its home opener against Southern Miss on Saturday night. Buzz has been building in Tallahassee throughout the offseason but the hype reached a new level when the Seminoles destroyed LSU 45-24 in Orlando last weekend.
That has fans and recruits excited to pack the stands in Doak Campbell Stadium. Florida State is expected to welcome 40+ prospects to its first home game of the year. However, there will be a variety of recruits visiting other schools this weekend, including at least one highly-toughed prospect who is committed to Florida State.
Four-Star wide receiver Devin Carter announced on social media that he'll be checking out Alabama on Saturday for the team's game against No. 11 Texas. The son of former Florida State running back Dexter Carter, he's a legacy recruit who has been committed to the Seminoles since April 20.
Carter was in attendance for FSU's victory against LSU in Orlando. He was also on campus over the summer for the Seminole Showcase, where he worked out for wide receivers coach Ron Dugans inside Doak Campbell Stadium. He's still relatively earlier in his recruitment and it's no surprise that he's taking a trip to watch one of the top college football games in Week 2.
Alabama is one of the programs that Carter chose Florida State over when he made his decision five months ago. The Seminoles will have to continue jockeying in this recruitment over the next few years to eventually secure his signature for #Tribe26.
At this time, Carter is the lone pledge for FSU in the 2026 class. As a freshman, he suited up for a Cedar Grove team that finished 11-3 and was the State Championship Runner-Up in Georgia's AAA classification. Carter caught 30 passes for 417 yards and six touchdowns.
Cedar Grove is off to a 1-2 start this season but Carter is continuing to raise his level of play. He hauled in seven passes for 116 yards and a touchdown in a loss last week.
The 6-foot, 165-pound wide receiver is regarded as the No. 33 overall prospect, the No. 5 WR, and the No. 6 recruit in the state of Georgia in the 2026 class according to 247Sports.
