The Rocky Mountains were rocking over the weekend as thousands of fans and recruits from around the country flocked to Boulder to get a look at the Buffaloes. The list of visitors included a couple of players that recently announced their decisions to transfer from Florida State - defensive end Derrick McLendon II and linebacker Brendan Gant. Also in attendance was a recruit that committed to the Seminoles earlier in the year, four-star wide receiver TJ Abrams, who recently confirmed the visit in a message to NoleGameday.
Abrams has remained vocal about visiting other programs throughout his recruitment. Since pledging to Florida State in January, the program has added two other blue-chip wide receivers into the fold - four-star Lawayne McCoy and four-star BJ Gibson. That gives the Seminoles four quality commitments at the position with a couple of other interesting talents on the board.
The Florida native hasn't been in Tallahassee since shortly before his commitment to Florida State. Abrams didn't attend a spring practice or the spring showcase like the majority of the other members of Tribe24.
Abrams caught 37 passes for 429 yards and five touchdowns as a junior. FSU is planning to utilize his speed on the outside as well as on special teams at the college level. He's a legitimately elite athlete as Abrams has been timed with multiple sub-11-second finishes during his track career. That includes a career-best 10.62-second 100-meter dash as a junior.
Head coach Mike Norvell offered a simple message to Abrams during his last trip to Florida State.
"You want everybody but you can’t take everybody," Abrams said previously. "You’ve got to take the best of the best. That’s what he wants. He wants people who want to be great and care for everybody else."
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound wide receiver is regarded as the No. 252 overall prospect, the No. 36 WR, and the No. 39 recruit in the state of Florida in the 2024 class according to 247Sports.
