Recruits React To Florida State's Second Decisive Victory In As Many Weeks To Begin 2023

What are recruits thinking about Florida State's fast start to the 2023 season?

Florida State pulled off its second decisive victory in as many weeks to begin the 2023 season on Saturday night. The Seminoles dominated Southern Miss en route to a 66-13 victory that saw 102 players who were wearing garnet and gold take a snap. That meant 24 true freshmen or reserves made their debut with the program against the Golden Eagles.

With this being the home opener for FSU, there were plenty of recruits in the stands and many others watching on TV around the country. Clearly, the Seminoles were able to take advantage of the attention that comes with being a top-5 team in the country.

Four-Star Quarterback Luke Kromenhoek (FSU Commit): "This team is special. I mean did you see Keon hurdle that poor kid?"

Four-Star Running Back Kam Davis (FSU Commit): "That was a great game for the team as everyone was showcased and had an opportunity to contribute to the team's success."

2025 Four-Star Running Back Alvin Henderson: "It shows me that their offense is powerful and elite."

Four-Star Wide Receiver Camdon Frier (FSU Commit): "I think it was expected so I'm glad to see the guys go out there and do what they do. But either way, it's fun to watch and ready for the next already."

2026 Four-Star Wide Receiver Devin Carter (FSU Commit): "We look good, tonight's win was expected but they are executing very well and I like how our 3rd strings are doing just as good as the starters. We look good. Go Noles!"

2025 Four-Star Wide Receiver Koby Howard: "Too easy! Great performance from everyone even the guys at the bottom of the depth chart had their way out there! I talked with coach Dugans a couple hours before the game and he told me this was going to be a great night for Seminole football and they did not disappoint! I know it wasn’t a powerhouse program, but they guys executed like they were coached to do. Great game."

2026 Athlete Jonah Winston: "I love what I'm seeing from them boys. I think it's bout time to say FSU football back!"

2025 Four-Star Offensive Lineman Mario Nash Jr: "I think it was a game they should’ve won. They dominated and played great. I think it was a good home opener!"

Three-Star Offensive Lineman Jayden Todd (FSU Commit): "Last night was another great win for the Seminoles! It was great to experience Doak for the first time! Go Noles!"

Three-Star Defensive End Jordan Boyd (Georgia Tech commit): "It was a great win to open."

Four-Star Defensive Back Ricky Knight III (FSU commit): "After watching us smash LSU last weekend I knew we was about to kill Southern Miss, I expect for us to keep performing and showing everybody that we live up to all the hype."

2025 Three-Star Defensive End Tylon Lee: "It was outstanding, like I love the atmosphere it was like no other and I enjoyed it and I can’t wait to be back for another game!"

2025 Four-Star Defensive Back Hylton 'Drake' Stubbs: They performed well. Did what they were supposed to do."

2026 Four-Star Defensive Back Zechariah Fort: "This is exactly what I expected from FSU, especially after last week's game against LSU, what Coach Norvell is doing at Florida State is special."

2026 Defensive Back Jalon Copeland: "Great team win, they came out hard ready to play. Tonight showed me why they are number 1 in my recruitment."

Three-Star Kicker Jake Weinberg (FSU Commit): "They came out on top all game long! Great team win!"
