Florida State is coming off a weekend where the program hosted six official visitors; four-star running back Christian Clark, four-star linebacker Edwin Spillman, four-star defensive back Wardell Mack, four-star offensive lineman Nyier Daniels, three-star defensive back Rydarrius Marshall, and three-star defensive back Jiquavious Marshall.
The coaching staff has been hard at work expanding the offensive line and defensive back recruiting boards throughout the year. The fruits of those labors might pay off as potential targets commit to other programs. That's simply the way of life on the trail. You can't win them all.
On Monday, three prospects that the Seminoles have been involved with on varying levels committed elsewhere. Coming off official visits to USC, four-star offensive tackle Manasse Itete and four-star safety Jarvis Boatwright announced that they were committing to the Trojans. Three-star offensive tackle Deryc Plazz pledged to Penn State after a trip to Happy Valley.
Itete took an unofficial visit to Florida State back in April for the spring showcase. He was able to spend time with multiple members of the coaching staff, including offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Alex Atkins and General Manager Darrick Yray. Itete is originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo but is finishing his high school career in the United States.
While he's taking his talents to USC, the Seminoles remain involved with another international offensive lineman in four-star center Jason Zandamela, who will visit Tallahassee later this month. Plus, FSU landed four-star offensive tackle Lucas Simmons out of Sweden as a member of the 2023 class.
Boatwright visited Florida State twice during the first three months of the year. He stopped by campus in January for a Junior Day prior to returning in March to observe a spring practice during Seminole Legacy weekend. Boatwright was beginning to trend towards the Gators prior to his pledge to the Trojans. The Seminoles are involved with plenty of safeties including four-star Ricardo Jones, four-star Zavier Mincey, and four-star Jalewis Solomon, among others.
Plazz was most recently in Tallahassee during April for an unofficial visit where he picked up a scholarship offer from the Seminoles. The coaching staff was impressed with the way that his body continued to develop over the past year. Plazz was considering working out at a summer camp and officially visiting Florida State before his pledge to the Nittany Lions.
Florida State holds 11 verbal commitments in its 2024 class. The haul ranks No. 8 in the country according to 247Sports.
