Three-Star DB Rydarrius 'Red' Morgan: "I know Coach Norvell is doing something big for FSU"

The Seminoles have caught the attention of versatile defensive back Rydarrius Morgan after an official visit.

Florida State kicked off a busy month of June by hosting six official visitors over the weekend. The next couple of weeks will be crucial as the Seminoles look to fill out their 2024 class ahead of a highly-anticipated campaign.

One of the deepest positions on the recruiting board for FSU is in the defensive backfield with a number of intriguing prospects to monitor. A trending name to know is versatile three-star recruit Rydarrius 'Red' Morgan.

Following the trip, Morgan provided an update on his recruitment while reflecting on his visit to Florida State. Morgan stated that head coach Mike Norvell is a major selling point for the program and that his energy caught his attention.

"I really liked it. I really liked it," Morgan said to NoleGameday's Tommy Mire. "Coach Norvell, his energy and everything. I know coach Norvell is doing something big at FSU, and it's something that I'd like to be a part of."

"Telling me why I fit here and why he thinks I fit here," Morgan continued. "He was just telling me like how good of a person I am on and off the field."

Norvell has recently cultivated success by putting defensive backs on the right path to the next level. Former Florida State star safety Jammie Robinson was selected in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

"That was one of my favorite safeties that was going into the draft this year,” Red said. “Dude's a dog.”

The Seminoles believe they could do something similar with Morgan, who has the skill set to play all over the defensive backfield. Defensive coordinator Adam Fuller isn't limiting him to one position.

"It was great. He was just telling me like they aren't putting a specific position on me yet, because they know I'm an athlete," Morgan said. "I can play everything, so they're just going to sit down and talk about and see what I'm really good at and where they want me to play at," Morgan said.

Safety Shyheim Brown and cornerback Kevin Knowles were two of the players that Morgan spent time around. He clicked with them almost instantly.

"It was really good. They made sure I was good, they felt like brothers for real," Morgan said.

The Alabama native went into detail about a couple of the aspects at Florida State that stood out. The energy and upcoming facility updates were two things that he earmarked.

"It's just the energy. That Warchant, it's like music to my ears. It's just so satisfying to me. Stuff like that," Morgan said. "It was a lot. Like the new facility that they're fixing to get, that's going to be crazy."

Florida State remains one of the top options on his list following his official visit. Morgan is also eyeing upcoming trips to Cincinnati, Auburn, and Miami during June. He plans to commit at the end of the summer or towards the beginning of his senior season.

"FSU is something that I want to be a part of, so they are high on my list right now, and like I said, coach Norvell is building something different here," Morgan said. "Something that I'd like to be a part of."

The 6-foot, 175-pound safety is regarded as the No. 511 overall prospect, the No. 51 Safety, and the No. 27 recruit in the state of Alabama in the 2024 class according to 247Sports.
