Through It All, Four-Star RB Kam Davis Sticks With His Multiyear Pledge To Florida State
The definition of loyalty is quite simple, it's a strong feeling of support or allegiance to something. When you look up a visual explanation of the word, you might just find yourself staring at a picture of four-star running back and longtime Florida State pledge, Kam Davis.
The Georgia native committed to the Seminoles nearly three years ago on February 25, 2021. He's been in the fold for 1,026 days and hasn't even visited another program for roughly a year and a half.
Even more impressive, Davis stayed loyal to the program through good days and bad days. He didn't waver when Florida State started off 0-4 in 2021 and questions began to arise about Mike Norvell. Instead, Davis stuck to his word and has watched his efforts pay off since then.
"It means so much. Great university, great coaching staff, the program took a major turnaround," Davis said to NoleGameday's Dustin Lewis. "For me, I'm more happy about being able to say that I was here from the 0-4 a couple seasons ago. That's probably the biggest thing I'm happy about."
Davis returned to Tallahassee over the weekend for his Official Visit. The trip marked his final time on campus before putting pen to paper in a couple of days. This was by all means a formality where Davis focused on wearing his recruiting hat and displaying his loyalty.
"It was great being here for multiple days, meeting with multiple guys, guys out of the portal as well," Davis said. "It went great being able to speak, just connect with a lot of guys, sit with the coaches, have relationships, talk about football."
"I honestly had no questions that I tried to ask," Davis continued. "I just wanted to keep building relationships with the coaches and the players and let them know that since I've always been loyal I'm still down and I'm ready to sign."

Two uncommitted players that Davis spoke with were Washington State transfer quarterback Cam Ward and four-star defensive end Amaree Williams. He and Ward did their best to get to know one another.
"When I first got here, I talked to Cam Ward a little bit, I tried to get a connection with him," Davis said. "Amaree [Williams], me and him, we connected, I talked to him at breakfast this morning; pretty cool guy, trying to make him a Tribe member as well."
"I think I'm pretty good right now," Davis continued with a laugh. "I might go 1/1, I might go 2/2, I really can't tell right now. Amaree, I feel like we're in a good position with him."
Florida State's 2024 class is on track to be the top group of high school prospects that Mike Norvell has signed since his arrival in Tallahassee. It's the relationships with the guys within the class that make #Tribe24 unique.
"We have a special relationship because all of us talk. None of us have ever hated on each other, been jealous of each other, we all congratulate each other," Davis said. "Some of us even show up to each other's games and stuff so I think the connection is pretty amazing and not only that, a lot of our guys have been committed for a good amount of time. Even all of the newcomers that came, we greet them and we make sure that they feel safe being our teammates in the future."
One of the crown jewels of the incoming class is five-star defensive back KJ Bolden. Davis revealed that the two have a good connection after playing against each other often while growing up in the Peach State.
"Me and KJ, we have a good connection, both being from Georgia, played against each other a lot in Little League," Davis said. "Just being around him is always a vibe. We laugh, we can joke, and just hang out a little bit. Being around him is good and it's always just a vibe."
There will be an opportunity for Davis to make an immediate impact with the Seminoles as Trey Benson (NFL), Rodney Hill (transfer), and CJ Campbell (transfer) are all moving on from the program. He wants to use his skills to make a difference on the field, and off of it.
"I just want to come in and be a leader. Even though I'm not the oldest guy in the room, I want to be one of the guys that's the most outspoken," Davis said. "Being able to learn the offense, get in when I can, just play a role. I'm not trying to come in and take somebody's spot but at the same time I do want to come in and play."
Prior to wrapping up his official visit, Davis sat down with Norvell for one last meeting where both parties expressed their gratitude for the next step.
"Just telling each other how thankful we are for each other. That's really about it," Davis said. "We've been in a relationship for over two and a half years now so just telling each other how thankful we are and how ready we are to get here together."
Davis will sign with Florida State at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, during a ceremony at his high school. He's ready to hit the ground rolling in January as the next chapter in his journey begins.
"It's going to be great. It had already been official but just putting it on paper and being able to get here in January is something that is going to be one of the biggest accomplishments going into the next chapter," Davis said.
The 5-foot-10, 200-pound athlete is regarded as the No. 68 overall prospect, the No. 3 RB, and the No. 12 recruit in the state of Georgia in the 2024 class according to 247Sports.
