The month is just beginning and there are a plethora of other prospects that the Seminoles are pursuing who are scheduled to make decisions over the next couple of weeks. So, who is going to be the next recruit to commit to Florida State?
Well, there are a couple of options on the table who recently announced decision dates. Four-star running back Micahi Danzy, four-star offensive lineman Jonathan Daniels, and three-star safety Ashton Hampton are all scheduled to commit on Saturday, July 15.
Danzy is Florida State's top option as the second fiddle alongside longtime commitment Kam Davis. The local product was on campus at the conclusion of June for his official visit. That was the only trip he took to a college program during an important recruiting month.
The Florida native is a major priority for head coach Mike Norvell and running backs coach David Johnson. Danzy is one of the fastest athletes in his age group in the world and is planning to run track at the next level. FSU is offering him an opportunity to stay home and play both sports.
Daniels was in Tallahassee during the final weekend of June to take his official visit. The Seminoles are still looking to add an offensive lineman to their 2024 class and he's the top remaining uncommitted prospect on the board.
The 6-foot-3, 280-pound offensive lineman has developed a strong relationship with Alex Atkins throughout his recruitment. The Seminoles are in his top three alongside Georgia and Kentucky but are the public favorite at this time.
Hampton is probably the least likely of the three to commit to Florida State as he hasn't been on campus since April. With that being said, he's a local product and a teammate of Danzy at Florida State University School. Those ties may lead him to choose the Seminoles.
At the same, he officially visited Clemson, Florida, Arkansas, and Louisville in June. Hampton isn't scheduled to take his official visit to Florida State until April. If he does commit elsewhere, don't count out the Seminoles down the stretch if there is still room in the class.
A pair of players to keep an eye on who haven't publicly set a date for a commitment include three-star defensive back Kevin Levy and three-star offensive lineman Tye Hylton.
Levy is a prospect that the coaching staff has liked throughout the process. He's also a cousin of four-star cornerback and recent Florida State pledge, Ricky Knight III. Those ties should give the Seminoles an edge over the competition - which appears to be Rutgers and Illinois at this time.
Hylton was another prospect that was at Florida State for an official visit during the last weekend of June. The Seminoles are jockeying with Miami and Florida for his pledge. Getting the last impression and Florida State making him an increasing priority might make the difference.
