BREAKING: Three-Star Safety Rydarrius Morgan Chooses The Seminoles over Auburn and Miami

Florida State has landed another competitive and versatile defender who can contribute to multiple phases of the game.

July is already stacking up to be an important month on the recruiting trail as Florida State looks to secure the building blocks of its 2024 class. The Seminoles landed two commitments over the weekend to begin the month and carried the success into Independence Day.

On Tuesday evening, three-star safety Rydarrius 'Red' Morgan announced his decision to commit to FSU over Auburn and Miami on Instagram. Morgan is the second pledge of the day for the Seminoles, who added four-star wide receiver Elijah Moore a couple of hours ago.

Florida State took charge of Morgan's recruitment over the last few days. He was impressed by what head coach Mike Norvell and the Seminoles are building in Tallahassee, which he got a close look at during an official visit in June.

"FSU is something that I want to be a part of, so they are high on my list right now, and like I said, coach Norvell is building something different here," Morgan said to NoleGameday previously. "Something that I'd like to be a part of."

Morgan is a hard-hitting, ball-hawking safety that is extremely instinctual. He trusts his eyes as plays develop and that awareness consistently has him around the ball to make plays. In the event he's out of position, Morgan displays an uncoachable level of hustle to pursue the ball carrier, which resulted in at least one forced fumble during his highlight tape.

The Alabama native is another prospect that fits into what Florida State wants as a competitive and versatile defender who can also play on special teams. Morgan isn't afraid to come down on kickoff coverage and deliver punishment to opposing players. That physicality and grittiness make him a pest to deal with if you're on the opposing sideline.

The Seminoles don't want to limit him to one position but Morgan will probably slot in primarily at the safety spot in college. His game looks very similar to that of former star safety Jammie Robinson, who made up for a lack of elite athleticism and size with instincts, smarts, and physicality.

"He was just telling me like they aren't putting a specific position on me yet, because they know I'm an athlete," Morgan said of meeting with Adam Fuller. "I can play everything, so they're just going to sit down and talk about and see what I'm really good at and where they want me to play at."

With his pledge, Florida State's class moves from No. 14 to No. 13 in the country with 15 verbal commitments. #Tribe24 is expected to continue to climb over the next couple of weeks.

The 6-foot, 170-pound defensive back is regarded as the No. 545 overall prospect, the No. 53 S, and the No. 28 recruit in the state of Alabama in the 2024 class according to 247Sports.
