Final Score Predictions for Georgia Football vs Missouri
Georgia returns home following its latest victory over rival Florida to continue its quest for a third-consecutive SEC Eastern Division crown as it hosts Missouri in a key divisional matchup. Georgia enters the matchup with Missouri with a perfect 8-0 record and the No.2 ranking in the initial College Football Playoff rankings that were released on Tuesday. Missouri will arrive in Athens fresh off of a bye week with an impressive 7-1 (3-1 SEC) record of its own and the No.12 ranking in the CFP rankings. The Tigers gave the Bulldogs their greatest challenge during the 2022 regular season and will take the field on Saturday looking to close the deal this time around. The winner of this game will take a significant step towards securing its spot in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta. Georgia, however, enters the game as a 15.5-point home favorite as it attempts to extend its home winning streak to 24 games.
The game will kickoff at 3:30 PM ET and will be broadcast on CBS.
The Dawgs Daily staff is here with our final predictions for the key SEC East matchup between Georgia and Missouri.
Brooks Austin: Georgia 45 - Missouri 31
Both of these football teams rank inside the Top-25 in Yards Per Game, if they play at their bare minimum, you'll see nearly 950 yards of offense in this football game. Granted, Missouri has only played one defense inside the top 75 in team defense, but they do have an offense that should be respected. What I don't expect is for this Missouri defense to possess the ability to stop this Georgia offense. Carson Beck and this passing attack should be explosive and dynamic.
Tyler Graves: Georgia 41 - Missouri 23
Missouri pushed Georgia to the brink a year ago and will be looking to finish the job in Athens this season. Missouri Head Coach Eli Drinkwitz will bring a strong team to Athens that is capable of beating Georgia. The problem for the Tigers, though, is that with Georgia's close call in Columbia a year ago and Missouri's surprising 7-1 start to the 2023 season, it is difficult to believe that Missouri will have anything less than Georgia's full attention, and when a team has Georgia's full attention, it typically results in a resounding victory for the Bulldogs, just ask Tennessee or Kentucky.
Missouri has earned its 7-1 record. They did not get to this point by accident. The Tiger offense is vastly improved and with Brady Cook and Luther Burdern III, they boast one of the top QB-WR combinations in the SEC. Defensive Coordinator Blake Baker has produced yet another aggressive, attacking style defense that gives Missouri a chance to win every game. However, everything that Missouri does well, everything that got them to 7-1, Georgia does better. Whether its the pass game, the run game, offensive explosiveness, offensive and defensive efficiency, scoring offense and defense, the Bulldogs are just better. Of course, this is college football and anything can happen on any given Saturday, but, while Missouri is capable of beating Georgia, they need Georgia to help them. In a matchup of two top-15 teams in the CFP rankings, with stakes this high, history tells us that will not happen.
Ethan Offutt: Georgia 48 - Missouri 17
The Battle for the SEC East takes place this weekend in Athens, GA., between the Georgia Bulldogs and Missouri Tigers. Both teams will be missing some of their key players for this game, such as Brock Bowers for Georgia and Cody Schrader, the running back for Missouri. There’s a few reasons I believe Georgia will be on top this weekend, one is depth, the second is that Missouri hasn’t faced a passing defense the caliber of Georgia’s, but third and most importantly, the Tigers rush defense in their only loss in the season to LSU was plainly awful.
Daijun Edwards will carry the fourth-ranked offense nationally to their ninth consecutive win.
Christian Kirby II: Georgia 41 - Missouri 20
Yes, Missouri has a highly effective offense when it comes to passing the ball. Yes, highly talented wide receiver play has traditionally given Kirby Smart defenses issues in recent years. And yes, Missouri will be able to move the ball at times on Saturday. But the Tigers have not played many defenses with a pulse like Georgia's and have not had to handle a raucous environment such as Sanford Stadium this year. Plus, Kirby Smart and company will be more than ready for this team after last year's close call.
The Bulldogs will utilize their home-field advantage and overpowering roster to beat the Tigers tomorrow comfortably.
Jonathan Williams: Georgia 44 - Missouri 24
Missouri’s offense has been rolling this season behind the likes of Luther Burden and Brady Cook, but this will be the best defense and passing defense they have faced all year. The Bulldogs also have an offense of their own that can put up points with anyone. The biggest indicators for me are Missouri’s susceptibility of allowing explosives on defense and their inability to stop the run consistently. The Tigers will score points on Saturday but it won’t be enough to stop the streaking Bulldogs.
