Florida Football Offensive Lineman Not Intimidated By Georgia Ahead of Rivalry Matchup in Jacksonville

Florida offensive lineman Austin Barber had some fiery words for Georgia this week ahead of the annual rivalry game between the two bitter rivals.

With back-to-back national championships, a 24-game winning streak that dates back to the 2022 National Championship Game against Alabama, and 19 consecutive weeks and running atop the Associated Press college football poll, the Georgia Bulldogs have unquestionably ascended to the apex of the college football landscape. However, all of those accomplishments are not enough to impress Florida left tackle Austin Barber, as he made clear when he met with the media on Wednesday ahead of the annual Georgia-Florida rivalry game in Jacksonville, Florida.

When asked about Georgia's 24-game winning streak Barber was dismissive of the Bulldogs' run of dominance and expressed confidence that the Gators can matchup with the defending national champions.

“You know we play SEC ball like they do, I think they’ve got some guys that can play and I think, 24-0 is great, but they have to come play us. That’s what I think about that.”

At 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the SEC, Florida is still firmly in the thick of the SEC Eastern Division race. Barber clearly likes the Gators chances to upset the Bulldogs in Jacksonville on Saturday for only the second time in the last seven matchups between the two bitter rivals and, in the process, take a tiebreak lead over Georgia in the SEC East standings heading into the critical final three conference games of the season. However, despite Barber's expression of confidence in the leadup to the annual rivalry game, the Gators will have to back up those words on the field of play when the two teams square off on Saturday inside EverBank Stadium.
