Georgia Bulldogs' History in the Orange Bowl
In just over two weeks, the Georgia Bulldogs will conclude their 2023 college football season when they face the Florida State Semionles as a part of the historic Orange Bowl game.
The Orange Bowl is a college football bowl game that is played annually in the state of Florida. The game was first created in 1935 as a way to bring tourism to the South Florida area and drew inspiration from the Rose Bowl game in California. Since then the game has become a staple of college football's bowl season and has even been host to playoff games in the past.
Despite this year's game having no playoff implications, this is another highly anticipated matchup between two teams that have a rich history in the sport. But although this game has been home to some incredible moments. The Bulldogs have rarely been a part of them.
This will just be the fifth appearance that the Dawgs have made in the Orange Bowl, and will only be their second within the last 60 years. The Bulldogs' most recent appearance came during the 2022 Orange Bowl where a Stetson Bennett-led Georgia team thrashed the Michigan Wolverines 34-11 en route to their first national title victory since 1980.
While this year's game may not have playoff implications, the top-10 matchup between two storied programs such as Florida State and Georgia gives this year's game the potential to be one of the most exciting Orange Bowl Games of all time.
