Kirby Smart's Son Flashes Playmaking Skills at Football Camp
Before he led Georgia to back-to-back national championships as the Bulldogs' Head Coach, Kirby Smart was a four-year letterman for the Bulldogs from 1995-1998. He finished his career with 13 interceptions and was a First-Team All-SEC selection as a senior. While Kirby's playing days are far in the rearview, it appears as though his playmaking ability has been passed down to his youngest son Andrew who put on a show at a local youth football camp.
At the Athens Academy youth football camp this week, Andrew Smart, who is often seen on Georgia's sidelines during games, pulled in an incredible leaping, one-handed interception in the championship game of the camp. Campers from different teams all over the field mobbed Smart in celebration after he made the show-stopping interception.
While Andrew is still at an early stage of his football development and is years away from considering the possibility of playing college football, after a play of that nature, it leaves one wondering whether he may one day follow in his father's footsteps as an impact player at the college level.
