ESPN Analyst Has Brock Bowers Being a Mid-First Rounder
Jordan Reid, an ESPN NFL Draft Analyst, recently published his early 2024 mock draft. In this mock draft, Reid included three Georgia Bulldogs selected in the first round, with Brock Bowers selected first. But, what may be a shock to some is how Reid has Bowers going in the mid-first round, at 12th overall to the New England Patriots.
Bowers being selected by the Patriots would have him going as the first tight end in the draft to a team in desperate need of a serious receiving threat for QB Mac Jones. But the placement of Bowers' selection isn't out of the ordinary. In the last 20 years, there have only been five tight ends selected within the top ten picks of the draft, the last being Atlanta Falcons Kyle Pitts.
Pitts is someone many scouts have been comparing Bowers to since his breakout freshman season, and deservingly so. The Falcons made history by drafting Pitts at 4th overall in 2021 after he hauled in over 1400 receiving yards. In Bowers's first two seasons of play, he has already racked up over 1800 receiving yards,
If Bowers can stay healthy and keep pace with his pure dominance on the field, why isn't he worthy of a top-10 selection?
