Georgia Looks to Make Program History in SEC Championship

The Georgia Bulldogs are currently atop the college football world. But they will have an opportunity to do something they have never done before this Saturday

In the past two years, The University of Georgia's football program has reached almost unimaginable heights. With a record-breaking 29 straight victories, a litany of first-round NFL Draft picks, and of course, back-to-back national titles, it is easy to that Georgia is currently one of the premier programs in college football.

But despite the Bulldogs' two-year dominance in the sport, they still have an opportunity to make history this Saturday when they play the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship.

Despite not sharing a division, Georgia and Alabama have a massive history. In the past 15 seasons, the two storied programs have each other four times for the SEC championship and twice for the national championship.

Of those four SEC matchups, the Bulldogs are winless against Alabama. This means that Georgia will have a chance to defeat the Tide in the SEC Championship for the first time in program history.

Not only would a victory over Alabama be the team's first in the SEC Championship. It would also mark the first time in program history that the Bulldogs have won back-to-back SEC Championship titles.

The Bulldogs were crowned conference champions last season after putting on an offensive masterclass against the LSU Tigers to win by a score of 50-30. Kirby Smart and staff will hope to recreate that same success this Saturday.
