Kirby Smart Provides Injury Update Ahead of SEC Championship Game

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart provided an injury update on some big names ahead of Saturday's SEC Championship Game

The Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide are set to battle for one of college football's most prestigious trophies—the SEC Championship. This will be the fourth SEC championship meeting between these two teams and the third in the last ten years. Alabama has defeated Georgia in all four meetings.

The Bulldogs seem fairly banged up coming into this matchup, as they were down a handful of starters in their previous matchup against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Players Ladd McConkey, Rara Thomas, Brock Bowers, and Tate Ratledge missed Saturday's contest with lingering injuries.

Smart gave updates on the four players mentioned above and provided updates on what their availability would be for Saturday's game.

"I don't have a lot more answers now than I had on Monday. They have not been able to do a lot. Each one has kind of worked kind of independently."

Smart did note that both Ratledge and Bowers had participated in some 11-on-11 drill work this week but was still uncertain as to what their availability would be for Saturday's game against the Crimson Tide.

With the SEC Championship just a few days away, it is likely that all four players will be a "game-time" decision as to whether or not they will play.
