Player Compensation for New EA College Football Game Revealed
College football fans around the world rejoiced back on February 15th when EA Sports confirmed the return of its college football game. EA College Football 25 will be released later this summer, marking the first new game in the series since 2013.
The reason for the decade-long absence is well known at this point, with former players leading a class action lawsuit against the NCAA for profiting off of their name, image, and likeness. Now, with NIL a legal and central part of the sport, players will be able to profit from being included in the game. ESPN released the figures players will receive in a report on Thursday.
Starting on the 22nd, players from 134 FBS schools can begin opting into the game, giving EA their permission to use their name and likeness in the game. In return, each player will reportedly receive $600 and a copy of the game.
All athletes who opt in to have their name, image and likeness appear will eventually receive $600, plus a copy of the game that's typically valued at $70. Athletes would remain in the game for their entire careers but could opt out of future editions if they choose. Athletes who remain in the game for multiple years will be paid annually, and players who transfer will continue to be compensated as long as they are on a roster. - ESPN
This means, assuming all of the Georgia players opt-in, you could play with Carson Beck at QB instead of QB #15 or a generic player. The game will also reportedly feature a dynasty mode, so fans can carry the Bulldogs to countless national championships in the future.
