Biggest Questions for Georgia Football Heading Into 2023 Season

With week one less than 70 days away. It's time to ask a few questions about the Bulldogs' team heading into 2023.

The offseason will be over in just a few short weeks, and the Bulldogs' campaign for a third straight national championship will begin. But while there is still a bit of time before the 2023 college football season begins, let's look at some of the biggest questions for Kirby Smart and his football team.

Can Carson Beck Maintain Bulldogs' Offensive Success?

Two years ago, if you were to tell Georgia fans that Stetson Bennett would become the greatest Georgia football player of all time, they would have laughed in your face. Nevertheless. The Mailman left the Bulldogs with two national titles and a lasting legacy on the Georgia football program. Now, it is seemingly Carson Beck's turn to step into the spotlight and take the reins of a Bulldog offense that has reached new heights over the past few years. Can he lead the Bulldogs to yet another national championship season?

How Much Will the Offense Change Under Mike Bobo?

Mike Bobo's promotion to offensive coordinator following the departure of Todd Monken was met with mixed reviews by Georgia fans. However, reports indicate that Bobo has maintained a lot of the philosophies and terminologies that Monken had put in place years prior. But how much will Bobo put his own spin on the offense and will that improve or regress production?

Can the Bulldogs Avoid Complacency?

Winning 29 of your last 30 games can make a team feel invincible. It is also no secret that (through no fault of their own) the Bulldogs have a relatively easy schedule in 2023. But though the quality of opponent may not be as great, the Bulldogs are still susceptible to losing. Can Smart and company prevent the "complacency bug" from setting into Georgia's program?

Who Will Step Up on Defense?

After the departure of many key members from Georgia's legendary 2021 defense, many young Bulldogs stepped up to fill the role of the departed in tremendous fashion. Now, the next batch of Bulldogs will need to step up in order to fill the voids left by stars such as Kelee Ringo, Jalen Carter, Chris Smith, and Nolan Smith. The question is, who will it be?

How Good Will Georgia's Wide Receiver Core Be?

Over the offseason, Kirby Smart added not one, but two high-quality SEC receivers to the roster via the transfer portal. With Rara Thomas and Dominic Lovett joining an already stacked room, Could this be the most talented wide receiver core the Bulldogs have ever had?

Georgia will begin answering these questions as it opens the season on Sept. 2 against the UT Martin Skyhawks. Kickoff for that game is currently set for 6 p.m. in Athens and will air on SEC Network.
