Kirby Smart met with the media on Saturday after the second scrimmage and announced that Carson Beck would be named the starting quarterback. He said he let the quarterback room know this week that Carson Beck will be the Bulldogs starting quarterback for the 2023 season.

Beck, a senior from Jacksonville, Florida has been a member of the Bulldogs' roster since the 2020 season where he sat behind the likes of Stetson Bennett and JT Daniels during the Bulldogs' back-to-back national championship seasons.

While Smart's announcement officially ends the Bulldogs' highly followed quarterback battle, many have speculated that Beck was the guy since the Bulldogs' "G-Day" game all the back in April. Throughout the game, Beck showed incredible poise and accuracy as he led the Bulldogs down the field for multiple scoring drives.
