Dawgs Hogtied in Fayetteville 97-65
For the second game in a row, the Georgia Bulldogs were pummeled on the road against an SEC opponent. This time, a 97-65 loss at the hands of the Arkansas Razorbacks. While a victory in Fayetteville was unlikely, Mike White's Bulldogs undeniably did not play their best game.
Georgia found itself in trouble fairly early after scoring just eight points in the first nine minutes of play. The team would trail by double digits for the rest of the first half as they entered the locker room down 43-23. Kario Oquendo had 10 points at the end of the first half while no other Bulldog had scored more than 3.
Poor shooting, bad defense and turnovers remained the status quo for Georgia as the Razorbacks became the second straight team to score 95-plus against the Bulldogs in as many games. By the time the final buzzer sounded, the Dawgs had turned the ball over 13 times and allowed Arkansas to shoot a robust 63.8% from the field.
Kario Oquendo was the lone bright spot in what was another meek outing offensively for Mike White's Bulldogs. Oquendo led the team in scoring with 20 points, but even his efforts were not enough to elevate the Bulldogs' offense that was just 35% shooting tonight.
Ricky Council IV was the star of the show for the Razorbacks. The junior guard finished the night with 22 points, which included a highlight reel of dunks throughout the game. Nick Smith Jr. finished as the Razorbacks' leading scorer with 26 points and was extremely efficient in his shooting.
The Bulldogs will be back in action Saturday, Feb. 25th as they return to Athens to take on the Missouri Tigers for the second time this season. This will be their second to last home game of the 2022-23 regular season.
