NFL Draft Profile: Will Jack Podlesney be Drafted?
After a successful three seasons at the University of Georgia, Jack Podlesney has entered his name into the NFL Draft in hopes to be one of the few kickers selected.
Hailing from the small town of Brunswick, Georgia in the 2018 class, Podlesney redshirted his freshman year behind fellow Georgia legend, Rodrigo Blankenship. Podlesney broke onto the scene in the 2020 season where he earned the nickname "Hot Pod" after completing a career-high, 53-yard kick to help the Dawgs defeat Cincinnati in the 2021 Peach Bowl.
During his senior season, Podlesney completed an impressive 81.3% of his field goals and was perfect on his attempts of 50 yards plus. He was also a perfect 38/38 on extra-point attempts and missed just a total of two his entire career.
Unfortunately for Podlesney, there have been just a total of 10 place kickers drafted since 2017. The relatively low demand for kickers in the NFL Draft will make having his name called on draft night somewhat of a longshot. However, there have been numerous undrafted kickers to have long, successful careers in the NFL.
