EA Sports to Feature College Players in Upcoming NCAA Video Game

After EA Sport’s latest announcement, college football fans and gamers alike seemingly have a lot to look forward to for the upcoming NCAA football game.

The college football community received some excellent news back in early 2021 in regard to the beloved NCAA football video game as the company announced via Twitter that the game would be making its return.

While the news was a massive step in the right direction, an official timeframe for the release was still unclear. The company had originally planned for the release sometime in the summer of 2023 but pushed back the date in an effort to ensure that the game would be of the highest quality. The official time frame for the release is now set for the summer of 2024.

The new video game is expected to have numerous new features and additions to its decade-old predecessor. Along with improved graphics and gameplay, one of the most notable expected updates will be the addition of the name and likeness of current players. Prior to 2021, players were unable to profit from their name, image, and likeness which prohibited them from appearing in the game. However in the wake of the new NIL regulations. EA has announced that it will be guiding athletes to the opportunity to “opt-in” to the game. Players who don’t will have a generic avatar created in their place.

“We’re excited to have an agreement in place with OneTeam Partners that will enable us to include the names and likenesses of eligible collegiate football athletes at NCAA Division 1 Football Subdivision schools who opt-in to being featured in EA Sports College Football.”
