Georgia Baseball Gets Ready for Georgia State
America's past time is officially back and brought some new faces to the diamond to take over the game. Sacramento State had one player get hit by a pitch in nine out of his ten at-bats this weekend. Georgia saw their baseball program elevate in the first weekend under Wes Johnson, going undefeated and scoring 38 runs to sweep the series against UNC Asheville.
They have a fun game in store tomorrow as they travel to Atlanta and take on the Georgia State Panthers. This game prepares them for a weekend series back at Foley Field when they host Northern Kentucky. The Panthers are coming back home off a trip to New Orleans, which they came away winning one of their three games, sitting them at a 1-2 record.
Georgia State is led by Henry Koehler offensively, who is hitting .385 with one home run and four RBIs. On the bump, the Panthers are led by Ross Norman, who has a 3.38 ERA in 5.1 innings pitched, with opponents batting average at .125 through his first start. Georgia is led by Dylan Goldstein offensively, who is hitting .500 thus far, with two home runs and eight RBIs, and a whopping slugging percentage of 1.375% so far. Leighton Finley had a superb day on the bump in his lone start, with a zero ERA, one hit given up, and five strikeouts.
The first pitch between the Panthers and Bulldogs will take place at 3 p.m. tomorrow at the Georgia State baseball complex, where you can listen on WGTJ-FM 97.5 as Georgia looks to stay on top of the SEC East and remain undefeated.
