Georgia Bulldogs One Step Closer to SEC Championship Following Win Over Missouri
The Georgia Bulldogs outlasted the Missouri Tigers in Athens this Saturday by a score of 30-21. The win was the Bulldogs’ 10th straight over the Tigers and extended their impressive win streak to 26 total games.
While the Bulldogs' win over the Tigers will certainly garner a positive reaction from the College Football Playoff Committee, it also puts them closer to punching their ticket to Atlanta for the SEC Championship.
With a win next Saturday, the Bulldogs will secure the SEC Eastern division for the third straight season, which means another chance to play for the SEC Championship in Atlanta. The Bulldogs won the SEC Championship during the 2022 season when they defeated the LSU Tigers by a score of 50-30.
The Bulldogs could lock up the East without a win as well. Should Tennessee lose to Missouri next week, the Bulldogs will lock up the east, regardless, of whether they win or lose.
The Bulldogs will host the Ole Miss Rebels in Athens next Saturday. The Rebels have not played in Athens since 2012 and are the only remaining SEC team that Kirby Smart has not defeated.
