2026 Quarterback Julian Lewis Discusses Early Relationship with Georgia, Other Schools in the Mix
The biggest news of the 2024 recruiting cycle broke earlier this week as quarterback Dylan Raiola, the No. 1 prospect in the class, announced his commitment to the University of Georgia. A major addition for the Bulldogs and one that will likely help bring in other big names in the class. And while this year's class is the biggest focus for the Bulldogs right now, there are some other future prospects that Georgia has their eye on, and one of them is 2026 quarterback Julian Lewis out of Carrolton, Georgia.
When asked about Raiola committing to Georgia, Lewis said, "I mean, I guess it's big, You know, getting that number one quarterback in that class. But it doesn't really change anything for me. And in terms of my recruiting like, it's cool to see guys like that commit."
There is still a long way to go in Lewis' commitment considering he is just a rising sophomore, but he is already drawing in a lot of attention from a lot of big-name schools, including Georgia. As a freshman, Lewis helped lead his team to a state title game but came up just short. Last season he threw for 4,118 yards and 48 touchdowns according to his Max Preps profile.
It is anticipated that Lewis will be ranked as one of the best players in his class and programs across the country are recruiting him as such. Dawgs Daily caught up with Lewis following his practice on Tuesday, and he talked about the early stages of his recruitment and who all is already in the mix.
As for schools that are already in the mix, Texas, Georgia, Alabama, USC, and LSU were the schools that Lewis listed. The Georgia native said that he has built a good relationship with Coach Sarkisian at Texas and that he is continuing to get to know Alabama's new offensive coordinator Tommy Reese. He also mentioned that he is the youngest quarterback that Lincoln Riley out of USC has offered which helped form a lot of respect there.
As far as Georgia and the Bulldogs' new offensive coordinator Mike Bobo go, here is what Lewis had to say about the University of Georgia:
"I mean, [Bobo] seems like a like a good guy. You know just trying to build the same relationship I have with Coach Monken or better. Hopefully, he stays a little bit longer than Coach Monken did, but yeah, I'm talking to Coach Bobo. I've met coach Bobo's son and stuff like that. My main thing right now is just trying to build our relationship off the field like not talking about football stuff and see who I connect with."
As for what comes to mind when Lewis thinks about Georgia, he said, "They're known for defense recently like before last year, they were like a no throw, we're gonna pound the ball, beat you down your throat. Last year they aired it out. That was with Coach Monken, but they said they're planning on doing the same thing this year."
The Bulldogs have pieced together a stacked quarterback room as they currently have Carson Beck, Brock Vandagriff, and Gunner Stockton already on the roster and then will be adding Ryan Puglisi and Dylan Raiola from the 2024 class. They've produced good results on the trail as of late when it comes to recruiting the quarterback position, and later on down the road, they hope to add Julian Lewis' name to the list.
As for the commitment of Raiola to the Dawgs? Well, Lewis figured it was about the right time for Raiola's recruitment.
"I guess it's big, getting the No. 1 quarterback in that class. But it doesn't really change things for me or my recruitment. It's cool to see guys like that commit, it's about the right time."
