Several Bulldogs Rise in Latest NFL Mock Draft

Several former Bulldogs saw a rise in their NFL draft stock after their performance at the combine.

With the NFL combine event officially wrapped up, there is now a better idea of where prospects rank amongst others within their position group and how they stack up against the rest of the class. Several former Bulldogs put on a strong performance this past weekend, and their names rose up the board as a result.

CBS released their latest first-round mock draft following the combine and five Georgia players made the cut. It would be the second year in a row in which the Bulldogs had five players come off the board after day one.

Here is where each former Bulldog fell in the draft order:

Jalen Carter, 5th overall, Seattle Seahawks

Despite the news that came out about Carter during the week of the NFL combine, CBS does not seem to think it will have much effect on his draft stock. The former Georgia defensive lineman has always seemed to be a lock for a top-five pick and he makes the cut-off for that here.

Carter elected not to participate in workouts at the combine and will instead wait to do so at Georgia's pro day in the coming weeks. NFL organizations have been waiting for Carter to enter the league and there is no denying that he is one of the top talents in this year's class.

Nolan Smith, 17th overall, Pittsburgh Steelers

Smith is without a doubt one of the biggest risers after his performance at the combine. After missing the last half of the season due to a shoulder injury, the former Bulldog made sure to be a memorable name after this past weekend. He ran a 4.39 in the 40-yard event and posted a 41.5" vertical. If there were any questions about Smith's athleticism going into the combine, those questions got answered.

Broderick Jones, 19th overall, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

There are few players in this year's draft class that measure up to Jones' raw athleticism. He clocked in a 4.97 in the 40-yard event despite measuring in at 6-5 and 311 pounds. The former Georgia offensive tackle put together a stellar final season in Athens, but as CBS points out, "He's not yet a finished product." They have him as the fourth offensive lineman off the board in this mock draft, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see Jones' name called sooner than that.

Kelee Ringo, 23rd overall, Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings took a chance on a Georgia secondary player in the first round of last year's draft with Lewis Cine and they might do it again in 2023. Ringo has been floating around the late first or early second range when it comes to mock drafts, but his combine performance might have been enough to lock him in as a day-one pick.

Ringo possesses superb size at the cornerback position as he measured in at 6-2 and 207 pounds. He also ran a 4.36 in the 40-yard event which is what has him so high on people's draft boards.

Darnell Washington, 30th overall, Philadelphia Eagles

Last but certainly not least on the mock draft's list of Georgia players is none other than the massive talent of Washington. When it was his turn to participate in workouts, Washington made sure to put on a memorable show. He measured in at 6-7 and 264 pounds and ran a 4.64 in the 40-yard event.

Washington can do it all at the tight end position and he definitely saw his name rise up the draft boards after his performance in Indianapolis. He would be the first Georgia tight end to be taken in the first round since Benajmin Watson in 2004.
