Georgia Second Half Offensive Players to Watch

Georgia offensive players to watch in the second half of the season with Brock Bowers out with an injury.
In this story:

The biggest news of the bye week for Georgia was star tight end Brock Bowers having tightrope surgery on his ankle, which will keep him on the sidelines for multiple weeks. Bowers was a focal point of the Bulldogs' offense and a go-to target for quarterback Carson Beck, so who will step up to help fill the void on offense?

One of many positive factors of Beck's game is his ability to distribute the football to a multitude of receivers. Through seven games, Georgia has seven different players with 10 or more receptions, not including Bowers. Sophomore tight end Oscar Delp will likely see an uptick in his contribution to the offense as the team's top tight end now. However, Georgia will lean on more than one player throughout the rest of the season to help keep the offense rolling in the second half, which means there are several players fans should keep an eye on.

Ladd McConkey, WR

McConkey made his official debut this season against Auburn after being held out due to a back injury and is back to making big-time plays for the Bulldogs on offense. He has had the opportunity to get quite a few in-game reps over the last few weeks to get back into his stride and feel comfortable again. McConkey has been known to help create big explosive plays on offense over the last couple of years and has always been one of the more dependable players on offense.

The bye week will make it four weeks since McConkey came from injury, which means by the time the Florida game rolls around, he should be that much closer to being his full self just in time for the last part of the season.

Rara Thomas, WR

Thomas was one of two receivers that Georgia plucked out of the transfer portal this season, and he has started to really shine in the offense over the past couple of weeks. Like many newcomers in a new offense, Thomas took some time to get adjusted and feel comfortable in Mike Bobo's offense.

Against Kentucky, Thomas showcased his explosive playmaking ability as an outside receiver as he reeled in five receptions and an impressive touchdown that left everyone impressed. Teams will likely defend Georgia differently now that Bowers is no longer in the equation, which means the Bulldogs will likely have to rely on players to win some one-on-one matchups, and Thomas has the ability to become a consistent target at receiver if that is the case. Look out for him to provide a spark to this offense.

Dominic Lovett, WR

Lovett is the other transfer wide receiver that Georgia brought in this offseason, and he currently has the second most receptions on the team, only behind Bowers with 31. Against Vanderbilt, he reeled in nine receptions for 72 yards and a touchdown and might have provided a little preview of just how impactful he could be during the absence of Bowers.

Throughout the season, Bobo has dialed up plays to get Lovett the ball in a variety of ways, whether it's been in the screen game or getting him in open space down the field. He was one of the more explosive players in the country last season at Missouri as a pivotal piece in the Tigers' offense, and he certainly has the ability to play that role for Georgia over the next few weeks.
