Georgia Spring Practice Intel Report

The latest we are hearing from Georgia Spring Practice as the Bulldogs wrap up another week.

Spring practice for the Georgia Bulldogs is well underway at this point, which means the program has a better idea of how they are looking at each position. The Bulldogs are continuing to figure things out at several positions on both sides of the football which gives a better idea of how they will look when the season rolls around.

Here is the latest intel we have gathered after the Bulldogs' first spring scrimmage on Saturday:

Georgia is loaded down at both receiver and tight end and that has become prevalent throughout the spring. Brock Bowers continues to be the headliner of the group and is poised to have another big season, but the Bulldogs have several other names that have emerged at that spot. Oscar Delp is shaping up to be the second option, but newcomer Lawson Luckie has shined this spring and as he continues to be a threat in the passing game. He has shown the ability to outrun defenders and be dominant at the catch point. Sources indicated to Dawgs Daily that Luckie had multiple touchdowns in Saturday's scrimmage. Including a long breakaway run after the catch.

As far as wide receivers go, Georga is continuing to figure things out at the X-receiver spot. Dillon Bell and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint are pushing for playing time and continue to give Georgia a good look when their numbers are called. They are arguably the deepest they have ever been at wide receiver in quite some time, and the Bulldogs will have a lot of options to work with. Though it's the speed in the slot that stood out during Saturday's scrimmage. New offensive coordinator, Mike Bobo and company dialed up shots for the likes of Arian Smith and 2022 signee CJ Smith with explosives.

Staying on the offensive side, Carson Beck and Brock Vandagriff continue to be the two front runners for the job at quarterback. They have alternated reps with the first and second groups, but Beck still appears to be in the lead for earning the starting role. Nonetheless, there is still a battle going on to see who comes out on top before spring practice comes to an end. Gunner Stockton showed Saturday the grit and competitiveness that Smart alluded to during the lead-up to the national championship.

Switching over to the defense, the compelling spot this spring has been safety and STAR. Georgia knows the have All-American caliber talents in Malaki Starks and Javon Bullard. Bullard made his mark a year ago at the STAR position and will likely continue to play some in the nickel this season. However, sources have indicated that names like Javon Bullard, Tykee Smith, and Joenel Aguero have all rotated at both safety and STAR. We at Dawgs Daily expect their to be plenty of experimentation with six names — Malaki Starks, Javon Bullard, Tykee Smith, David Daniel-Sissahvn, Joenel Aguero and Dan Jackson — all to get work at both safety spots and with Aguero, Smith, and Bullard getting work at STAR.

As for the corner spots, intel from Saturday's scrimmage indicated that Kamari Lassiter is a clear-cut one, alongside him at corner is where the battle resides. Daylen Everette, Nyland Greene, Julian Humphrey, AJ Harris, and Smoke Bouie all got reps at corner today. It's still very much open for discussion as to who will win that job.
