Georgia has done exceptionally well at recruiting, developing, and producing at virtually every single position on the football field, especially over the ten years or so. But if there were one position to be tabbed as the one that is trailing behind the others, it would probably be at wide receiver, but that won't be the case in 2023 for the Bulldogs.

This isn't to say that Georgia has done a poor or sub-par job at reeling in and developing talent at that position, but the Bulldogs aren't exactly known for pumping out elite talent at wide receiver on a consistent basis. In fact, George Pickens is the last five-star wide receiver to come through Athens, and he is the only wide receiver to be drafted out of Georgia over the last four draft classes. But the Bulldogs have looked to have turned a corner since Bryan McClendon took over as wide receiver coach.

Heading into the 2023 season, not only does Georgia have a surplus of talent at wide receiver, but they arguably have the most depth at that position since Kirby Smart became head coach. In fact, the Bulldogs' receiving corp is looking so impressive, that PFF's Max Chadwick pinned them as one of the five best in the nation.

After winning the team's second national title in two years, Georgia was already going to be returning some key contributors at wide receiver for the 2023 season. Names like Ladd McConkey, Arian Smith, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, and Dillon Bell. But that core group of players immediately got elevated when Rara Thomas and Dominic Lovett elected to jump on board from the transfer portal. Two more SEC wide receivers joining the mix.

The last time Georgia probably had a top-five wide receiver unit in the country was when AJ Green was still rocking the red and black, and that was back in the late 2010s. Coach McClendon has done an impressive job in helping turn around Georgia's wide receiver room, and he is now starting to really pick up some steam on the recruiting trail as well.

Many were already expecting Georgia to have a powerful offense this season, but if they get a top-five performance out of their receivers this season, the offense will be a nightmare for any opposing defense that rolls into town.
