Dawgs Daily is here in Nashville, Tennessee, for this week's slate of SEC Media Days. Coaches and players from all 14 teams in the conference will be taking the podium to speak about the upcoming season and to provide a glimpse of what this year has in store for their program prior to the 2023 college football season being kicked off.

For the second day of media days, the media will be hearing from the head coaches and players from Georgia, Mississippi State, Auburn, and Vanderbilt. During Kirby Smart's time at the podium, he spoke about the expectations of the season and dealing with the threat of complacency after winning back-to-back titles.

Here is what Coach Smart said:

"I do want to speak briefly on dealing with the threat of complacency. Everybody here has talked about the emphasis on three peating and the emphasis on what are you going to do next. How are you going to top that how you top an undefeated season? You know, the threat for us is complete complacency. The first thing you have to do is acknowledge that it's a threat. If you acknowledge that complacency is a threat. It's the first step towards stomping it out. So we look for two things when we look for people to join our organization. I'm not talking about players. I'm talking about anybody in the organization. Do they love football? And do they embrace being part of something bigger than themselves? Are they selfless? So like we want to find people who love football and embrace a selfless role. And those two qualities loving football and embracing being selfless, are not dependent on outcomes."

Smart is always good for a motivational quote prior to the season being kicked off. Last year at SEC media day, he talked about how Georgia was not going to be hunted and that the Bulldogs were going to do the hunting. This year it is about not being complacent after winning two consecutive national titles. Many were eager to know what Georgia and Smart's "why" was for the 2023 season, and the head ball coach gave some insight on that.
