Georgia Opens as Betting Favorite to win 2023 National Championship
The Georgia Bulldogs made history earlier in January of 2023 when they completed the first-ever back-to-back national championship victory since the birth of The College Football Playoff. But early betting lines indicate that the reigning national champions are poised to make history once again.
According to SiSportsbook, Georgia has an excellent chance to take home the hardware at the end of the 2023 season, as they are currently the betting favorites to win the national championship at +220 odds. The next best odds are unsurprisingly the Alabama Crimson Tide at +500.
Other teams that received odds were Ohio State, Michigan, Florida State, and LSU. Two teams that the Bulldogs defeated during their 2023 national championship campaign.
Despite the favorable odds, Georgia will have a plethora of spots to fill ahead of the 2023 season including the void left by now legendary quarterback Stetson Bennett who declared for the NFL Draft. Bennett was one of 12 different Bulldogs to depart for the NFL this season.
It should also be noted that winning a national title for three straight seasons is a feat that no modern college football team has achieved. In fact, the most recent team to do so was all the way back in the 1930s when the Minnesota Golden Gophers were crowned champions from 1934-36.
While an uphill battle certainly awaits "The Kings of College Football", the Bulldogs' consistent recruiting along with their uber-talented acquisitions from the transfer portal haven given the team an excellent chance to emerge as champions once again.
