How the First Round of 2023 NFL Draft Increases the Legend of Georgia's 2021 Defense

With the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft concluded. Georgia's 2021 defense is now even more legendary

Georgia's defense during the 2021 college football season became one of the best in college football history after holding teams to just 10.2 points per game and helping the Bulldogs win their first national title in over 41 years.

The legendary status of the unit grew after an NFL record five members from the defense were selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Now that the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft has concluded, Georgia's 2021 defense may be the most productive defense in college football history.

After Nolan Smith and Jalen Carter's first-round selection to the Philadelphia Eagles Thursday night, the Bulldogs' total number of first-round picks that played on Georgia's defense in 2021 has increased to a whopping seven total. With three of them playing on the defensive line.

With highly talented players such as Kelee Ringo and Christopher Smith still available on day two of the draft, it is likely that the legendary 2021 defense will have even more accolades by the end of the week.
