Malaki Starks Ranked Among Top Returning Safeties in College Football
Malaki Starks signed with the University of Georgia as a five-star prospect in Georgia's 2022 class. It did not take long for the true freshman to make an impact on Georgia's defense, as he came up with a spectacular interception in the Bulldogs' first game against Oregon. Stark finished his first season with a tremendous 69 tackles, 2 interceptions and led all Georgia defenders with 847 total snaps played on defense.
Starks' role in the Bulldogs' second straight National Championship season has not gone unnoticed by experts either. According to Pro Football Focus, Starks is currently ranked as the third-best returning safety behind USC's Calen Bullock and Miami's Kamren Kitchens. He was just one of two true freshmen ranked in the top-5.
Starks' experience will bring skillset and leadership that will be huge for a Bulldogs team who lost two starters Chris Smith and Kelee Ringo to the NFL draft. It is likely that he will be the leader of the back end of the Bulldogs' defense in 2023.
