Nick Saban Retiring from Coaching, Per Reports

According to reports, Nick Saban notified his football team at Alabama that he will be retiring. ESPN's Chris Low was the first to tweet the news.

It's been a rather chaotic last month of the calendar for the Georgia Bulldogs and the rest of the world of college football. And that world just got a little bit more hectic as Nick Saban, according to reports, has notified his football team at Alabama that he will be retiring. ESPN's Chris Low was the first to tweet the news.

Saban has been a part of the Alabama football program since 2007. He will finish his career with seven total national titles, 11 SEC titles, and an overall record of 201-29 with the program. Overall in college football, he will finish with a final record of 292-71-1.

Before his time with the Crimson Tide, Saban made several other notable stops. He got his head coaching career started at Toledo which later followed into his landing at Michigan State. He would then make the switch to LSU where he won a national title and then to the Miami Dolphins for a brief stint before finding his permanent home in Tuscaloosa.

Georgia had some epic showdowns with the Crimson Tide during Saban's reign, specifically over the last seven seasons. It all got started in the 2017 national championship game, which was also his first matchup against his former defensive coordinator Kirby Smart. The two head coaches would clash against one another five more times, and the Bulldogs would only defeat Alabama one time during the 2021 national championship game.

As this historic run comes to an end, Saban garnered respect from many, rewrote history over his long coaching career and made a massive impact on a sport that many people across the nation love. He will finish his career labeled as the undisputed GOAT by many, and as a coach that made an everlasting impression on the game of college football.
