Players to Know From Missouri Tigers Offense Versus Georgia
The Battle for the East will be in Athens, GA. this weekend when the number 14 ranked team in the country, Missouri Tigers, come to town to take on the Number one team, Georgia Bulldogs. The Tigers' offense has been solid, leading them to their current ranking and a 7-1 record, but these three offensive players you should watch this weekend versus Georgia.
Brady Cook
The country's 15th-rated passer, Brady Cook, has performed above expectations for this season. Ha has completed 69.8% of his passes for 2,259 yards, 15 touchdowns, and three interceptions on the season and has led the Tigers past a ranked Kansas State squad to move to 3-0 and then a ranked Kentucky squad to solidify the sole possession of second place in the SEC East. Nearly 50% of his yardage has come from one receiver, in Luther Burden III, but the two have not faced a caliber defense like Georgia yet.
Cody Schrader
The Tigers' rushing leader has been solid the past two seasons. Cody Schrader has broken out this season, using 140 carries to tote the rock for 807 yards, 30 fewer carries from a season before with 62 more yards. Schrader also has nine touchdowns for the season to tag along with Cook's 15 touchdowns. The 15th-rated rusher in the nation has an excellent drive with his feet and acceleration through gaps that could pick up good chunk yardage on the edge of Georgia's defense, but most importantly, he has not fumbled the ball in his two seasons of play. Protecting the "baby" is key, and Schrader has done it well, but if Georgia can pop one loose, it could very well be the deciding factor of this game.
Luther Burden III
Luther Burden III could easily be considered the biggest threat from the Missouri offense in their quest for the SEC East title. Burden has nearly 500 more yards than the Tigers' second-leading receiver, hauling in 61 catches for 905 yards and six touchdowns. In Missouri's only loss this season against LSU, he caught 11 passes for 149 yards, following up an 11 rec, 140 yds, and two TD win against Vanderbilt. Going over the top of defenders for his touchdowns, as he did against South Carolina in double coverage, Burden's blazing speed makes him a posing threat. Missouri has found themselves a solid replacement with the departure of Dominic Lovett to Georgia.
Glenn Schumann and the Georgia defensive staff will likely base their game plan this week on slowing down the tempo offense of Missouri, which allows Burden's speed to become a factor, and then break off big gains with Schrader's burst through the hole. The Tigers and Bulldogs will face off this Saturday, Nov. 4th, when Georgia looks to tame their next ranked feline opponent and shut down the Cook'ing offense.
