Quarterback, Jake Merklinger Commits to Tennessee
Jake Merklinger, a 4-star quarterback from Savannah, Georgia has announced that he will be joining the Tennessee Volunteers as a member of the team's 2024 recruiting class.
Merklinger, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound gunslinger had drawn attention from SEC schools such as Georgia, Arkansas, and Auburn. But was heavily predicted to commit to the Volunteers which is why it should not be a surprise the highly touted recruit decided to join Josh Heupel's fast-paced offense, which lit up the league during the 2022 college football season.
Merklinger is the sixth commitment to Tennessee's 2024 recruiting class that currently ranks 13th in the country. He will likely compete with the Volunteer's 2023 quarterback signee Nico Iamaleava for a starting role when he arrives on campus.
With Merklinger off the board, the Bulldogs will likely turn their attention to quarterback prospect Dylan Raiola as they build their no.1 ranked 2024 recruiting class. Raiola is a 5-star prospect, who is also a member of the 2024 recruiting class. Ryan Puglisi, a 4-star quarterback has already committed to the Bulldogs 2024 class as well.
