SEC Championship Game a Shot at Revenge for One Georgia Football Member

The SEC Championship game stage is set as the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide are set to face off, and for one Georgia football member, it's a shot at revenge.

Not many matchups in college football are anticipated and sought after more than Georgia vs Alabama has been since 2017. Kirby Smart vs Nick Saban is a headliner that gets every college football fan on the edge of their seats every time, and everyone knows it's going to be a fistfight for four quarters every time. Georgia, of course, got the last laugh between the two as they defeated Alabama in the 2021 national title game and finally got the "monkey off their back," but for one current Georgia football member, Saturday is his shot at redemption.

Since 2012, Georgia and Alabama have met in the SEC Championship game a total of three times. The Crimson Tide have defeated the Bulldogs all three of those times. In 2018, Alabama defeated Georgia to knock them out of the playoffs, and in 2021, their win over the Bulldogs got their name into the playoffs, but Georgia would later avenge the loss when it mattered most. But perhaps the SEC Championship game loss that hurt the most was in 2012 when Georgia came just a few yards short of defeating Alabama and punching their ticket to the national title game. The offensive coordinator for Georgia during that time was Mike Bobo.

Losing an SEC Championship game and essentially the national title game that year in ultimate heartbreak fashion is the type of thing that stays and lingers with someone for quite some time. As mentioned before, many current and former Georgia players and coaches were able to wash out the nasty taste in their mouths of losing to Alabama in 2021, but Bobo has not yet had his opportunity to revenge. But on Saturday, he will.

Bobo has been very effective as the offensive playcaller for Georgia this season. His quarterback Carson Beck is playing like one of the best in the country, they are averaging nearly 40 points per game and many consider the Bulldogs to be the most efficient offense in the country. He has been a master mind with the headset on this season, and Georgia fans bet their bottom dollar that he will be ready to call the game of his life on Saturday to finally put the monster beneath his bed to rest, one and for all.
