What Georgia Commit Malachi Toliver Brings to the Table
On Sunday, March 26. Malachi Toliver announced that he would be committing to the University of Georgia and joing the Bulldogs as one of the first offensive lineman to join the team's 2024 recruiting class. With Toliver's commitment, we decided to do an evaluation of just what exactly what skills and traits the 3-star from Cartersville, Georgia has to offer.
Frame: Requirements at Georgia to play Guard and Tackle under Stacy Searels are clear, be tall, be long. Toliver Checks those at nearly 6'6, 315 pounds with 33.5" arms.
Athleticism: Though there is a lack of elite foot speed and explosive tendencies, there's a tremendous amount of bend and flex in an extended frame. As muscle is added to the frame, he could find a newfound explosiveness.
Instincts: Possesses a seemingly calm and processed demeanor on the football field. Not overly aggressive and plays within himself until he finds a leaner, then he's keying to finish. This ability to stay balanced could keep him upright on the next level.
Polish: There's clear attention to detail with foot placement from the stance to the steps, however, there could be some overall improvements on hat and hat placement as well as violence. Though he's a quality finisher and possesses the technique and feet to arrive at the correct location, there's rarely destruction on the other end.
Bottom Line: Georgia has precedence of finding and signing the best and biggest boys on the offensive linemen from the state of Georgia. This coaching staff believes that Malachi Toliver is one of those. He's plenty big, he's plenty coachable, and he's yet to reach his physical floor.
