Class of 2025 Overview: Defense
The Bulldogs have always had outstanding defenses under Kirby Smart and a lot of that has to do with the level of recruiting excellence Georgia has displayed on the defensive side of the ball.
In the class of 2025, Georgia already has two defensive players committed. 5-star Justus Terry from Manchester Georgia and 4-star LB Jadon Perlotte from Buford.
To find the biggest need on defense in the class of 2025 look no further than the defensive line. As mentioned earlier 5-star Justus Terry is already a big lift to the defensive line. Terry comes in at 6-5 275 and will play one of the defensive tackle spots in Georgia's defense.
5-star Defensive lineman Elijah Griffin is the next prospect who is a must-have for Georgia. Griffin might arguably be the most important player for Georgia in 2025. Griffin is listed at 6-5 285 and draws some comparison to Georgia star Jalen Carter.
A look at Griffin’s film shows why that comparison has some merit, he was a force for his High School Savannah Christian Prep, amassing 17.5 sacks and 90 plus tackles. Griffin also shows the ability to play multiple positions along the defensive line.
There are several other defensive linemen Georgia is in the mix to sign, with 4-star Christain Garrett from Athens, and 4-star Kevin Wynn from Greensboro Georgia leading the way.
Edge is another important position the Bulldogs will use to form their board as this class continues in the cycle; some names that Georgia has shown interest in are 6-4 210 pound Christian Gass from Covington Georgia and 6-5 250 pound 4-star Isaiah Gibson from Warner Robins. If coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe has shown anything in his short time at Georgia it’s his penchant for getting big names to commit to the Bulldogs.
Just like the defensive line class the linebacker room already has one of their spots filled for now with Burford standout Jadon Perlotte. Georgia will have to fight off several teams like Auburn and Florida State to keep Perlotte in the class. Perlotte comes in at 6-3 200 and projects as a Willie linebacker, his comp being Quay Walker. Jadon will be able to clog up passing lanes with his long arms and also rush the passer in certain situations.
5-star Zayden Walker from Schley County is another main linebacker target Georgia has identified early on the 2025 cycle. Walker is the prototype Mike linebacker in the Georgia defense, he would be the Nakobe Dean, Roquan Smith, CJ Allen type of role. Walker will have to learn to play as a true interior linebacker once he gets to Georgia, he plays on the edge for his High School.
Defensive backs will have some new faces involved in the recruiting process for the Bulldogs. As Georgia fans know former defensive back coach Fran Brown has moved on to Syracuse, so Georgia responded by adding outstanding recruiter Donte Williams and recently added former Alabama Safety coach Tavaris Robinson after Will Muschamp decided to take an off-field analyst role.
Georgia now without question has the best recruiters and coaches for the defensive backfield in the nation and Georgia will look to use it to their advantage as they build their board. Georgia has had a good start to the 2025 class and will look to continue to build this defensive unit for years to come.
