Updated ACC Recruiting Rankings: 9/3
Week one of the college football season is nearly in the books, save for a couple of big matchups on Sunday and Monday.
The amount of commitments has been low this month, not just in the ACC, but around the country. Teams are now mainly focused on winning on the field, but recruiting is still going to be a big deal for all of these programs.
At the top of the ACC recruiting rankings is still Florida State. The Seminoles have the 7th-ranked class nationally and if Mike Norvell can guide his team to a victory over LSU, it could get even stronger. Losing top 100 safety Zaquan Patterson to rival Miami hurts, but this class for the Seminoles is still the best in the ACC.
Clemson remains in second in the conference, but its not by much. Miami has surged since getting the commitment of Patterson and now sits just right behind Clemson at the top of the conference. Clemson ranks 15 nationally and Miami 16th.
At the No. 4 and 5 spots are still North Carolina and Georgia Tech. The Tar Heels had an impressive victory over South Carolina in week one and Georgia Tech nearly pulled the upset over Louisville. Both teams remain ahead of the teams in front of them and by a decent margin.
Pitt, Virginia Tech, and Duke are 6-8. Pitt and Virginia Tech cruised to wins yesterday and Mike Elko will be leading Duke against Clemson on Labor Day night. All three teams have a ways to go before they can catch Georgia Tech or North Carolina.
NC State, Wake Forest, and Syracuse remain the 9th, 10th, and 11th in the rankings. All three teams won this weekend.
Louisville, Virginia, and Boston College remain 12-15th. Louisville scored a win over Georgia Tech in the opener, while Virginia and Boston College both picked up losses this week.
The ACC voted to add Cal, Stanford, and SMU to the conference this week. Right now, Stanford's class would rank 4th in the ACC, Cal's would be 16th, and SMU's would be 17th.
