Who Is Taking Their Official Visit To Georgia Tech This Upcoming Weekend (6/2)?
The calendar is turning to June and that means official visits are going to be the main topic of conversation in college football. That is going to be no different for Georgia Tech, which is getting set for its first big official visit weekend of the summer this Friday.
Headlining the official visitors this weekend will be in-state athlete Kamron Mikell (Statesboro, GA).
Mikell is ranked as the 133rd-best player in the 247Sports Composite and the 24th-ranked prospect in the state of Georgia. Mikell is coming off of an official visit with Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs last weekend and also has an official visit with Kentucky.
Here is the scouting report on Mikell courtesy of 247Sports Director of Scouting, Andrew Ivins:
"A year-round athlete … As a 10th grader, captured bronze in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes as the GHSA AAAAAA state track meet … Posted 100 times that season of 10.50 (1.2), 10.59 (1.6), 10.69, 10.79 and 10.99 to go along with 22.09 and 21.69 in the 200 … Also a starting guard on the hardwood. As a sophomore, helped the Blue Devils capture its first regional title in 5 years with a putback at the buzzer, scoring 23 points that night.
2021: Region 2-AAAAAA first-team selection at quarterback. In 10 games, averaged 7.7 yards per carry, rushing for 1,083 yards and five touchdowns. Also passed for 465 yards and seven more scores while competing just over 41 percent of his pass attempts. Has a career night in a loss to Effingham County totaling 234 yards and two touchdowns on the ground."
Mikell is one of the highest-rated recruits on the board for Georgia Tech. He has been trending toward Georgia according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball. Nailing this official visit will be huge for Georgia Tech to get momentum to swing their way.
Among the other visitors will be three-star athlete Trey Horne (Rabun Gap, GA), three-star defensive Amontrae Bradford (Statesboro, GA), quarterback commit Aaron Philo (Bogart, GA), three-star defensive end Landen Marshall (Andalusia, AL), offensive line commit Santana Alo-Tupuola, and offensive lineman Felix Doege (Rabun Gap, GA), and running back Matthew Fuller (Jesup, GA).
Having commits like Philo and Alo-Tupuola will be huge for the weekend and they will be trying to recruit all of the uncommitted prospects to join GT's 2024 class.
This is a good list of visitors for the first weekend and head coach Brent Key and the rest of the staff will look to build momentum and land the top prospects on the board.
