Updated ACC Standings heading into week three
Week two of college football has wrapped up and while there have not been many ACC conference games, I think it is still important to look at the lay of the land in the ACC heading into week three.
Duke and Louisville are going to be at the top of the ACC standings due to being the only teams in the ACC with a conference win. Duke pulled a shocker against Clemson on Labor Day Weekend and followed it up with a win against Lafayette yesterday. The Blue Devils play Northwestern and UConn before facing another major test against Notre Dame.
Much like Duke, Louisville followed up their win over Georgia Tech with a win against an overmatched FCS opponent. The Cardinals are 2-0 and should be 4-0 after games against Indiana and Virginia.
Florida State looks to be the class of the conference right now and the Seminoles are 2-0 with a big win against LSU under their belt. FSU has their first ACC game this weekend against Boston College.
Miami has yet to play a conference game, but the Hurricanes scored their biggest win of the Mario Cristobal era yesterday by beating Texas A&M Miami has Bethune Cookman and Temple next on the schedule before starting their conference schedule against Georgia Tech.
North Carolina is lucky to be undefeated after playing another thriller against App State. The Tar Heels have another non-conference tough test against Minnesota this upcoming weekend.
Syracuse and Wake Forest are 2-0 but have faced weak opponents so far and that does not change this weekend. Good starts for both teams, but they will have to prove it against better teams.
Boston College, NC State, Pitt, and Virginia Tech are all 1-1 and Boston College was the only team to get a win yesterday among that group, although it was a 31-28 win over Holy Cross. Virginia Tech and NC State could not overcome the delays they were in due to the weather. Pitt's offense looked rough in a bad loss to Cincinnati yesterday.
Virginia is the only winless team in the league and things don't look like they are going to get any better for Tony Elliott's team after a loss to James Madison.
Georgia Tech and Clemson are both 0-1 in conference play, but both got dominant wins against overmatched FCS teams yesterday.
