Conference realignment struck again this morning when the ACC officially decided to expand and add Cal, Stanford, and SMU to the conference. This move had been reported on all week and while the ACC president's meeting had been delayed, they met this morning and got 12 of the 15 votes that that the schools needed to be let in.

The three opposing schools were Florida State, Clemson, and North Carolina. Georgia Tech had been a yes vote and today, Georgia Tech Athletic Director J Batt released the following statement about the new schools in the conference:

"Georgia Tech Athletics proudly welcomes California, SMU, and Stanford to the Atlantic Coast Conference. With long traditions of athletic success and elite academic credentials, our three newest partners are a terrific fit for the ACC. A big thanks goes out to commissioner Jim Phillips and the leaders of our member institutions for delivering three excellent new institutions to our conference, while prioritizing student-athlete experience, well-being, and the long-term strength of our league. We're excited to begin working and competing with the Golden Bears, Mustangs, and Cardinal"

Yahoo Sports Ross Dellenger reported that under the ACC's most recent proposal Stanford and Cal would take a reduced revenue share and SMU was expected to take 0 TV share for nine years. Dellenger went on to say that the schools would see an escalation in their shares through the Grant of Rights and they would receive non-TV ACC shares from NCAAT, CFP, and incentive pool.

The latest saga in conference realignment is now over. But will there be more in the future?
