After spending some time in Athens as a quality control analyst for the national champion Georgia Bulldogs, Buster Faulkner is now tasked with helping to get Georgia Tech's offense back on track. Faulkner takes over the play-calling duties in Atlanta and he will also be coaching the tight ends.

While Faulkner does have play-calling experience from stops at Southern Miss and Middle Tennessee State, he had an opportunity to learn from Todd Monken at Georgia. Monken is regarded as one of the best offensive minds in football and after winning two national championships with the Bulldogs, he is back in the NFL as the offensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens.

After Georgia Tech's second fall camp practice today, Faulkner spoke to the media and reflected on his time spent in Athens and how he and Monken remain close:

"I mean I have learned from everybody that I have ever been around and I think that is the beauty of coaching, it is one big fraternity, we talk to guys all over the country and reach out but obviously Coach Monken was a great mentor of mine and a great friend so anytime that I need something, I call him and ask a question and he can be a guy I lean on.

But I learned a lot and we have got guys in here that have been places and we are always learning from each other and that is something that we take a great deal of pride in. One thing about our staff is that we have great communication and we are building our own offense. This is going to be Georgia Tech's offense."

Georgia Tech could never find an offensive identity under former head coach Geoff Collins and it will be up to Faulkner and his offensive staff to help get that jumpstarted.

Georgia Tech kicks off the 2023 season against Louisville on Sept. 1st at 7:30 on ESPN.
