Georgia Tech Offensive Coordinator Buster Faulkner Named A Broyles Award Nominee

Faulkner has led the turnaround for Georgia Tech on offense this season

The Broyles Award is given to the top assistant coach in the nation and today the nominees were revealed. Among those nominees is Georgia Tech offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner, who is currently the play-caller for one of the ACC's top offenses.

Faulkner deserves a ton of credit for getting this offense turned around and also for the work he has done with Haynes King at quarterback (as does quarterbacks coach Chris Weinke). King came over to Georgia Tech from Texas A&M and has had a great season for the Yellow Jackets. He is the third leading passer in the ACC with 2, 459 yards and Georgia Tech is sixth in the conference in passing yards.

The Georgia Tech offense has plenty of new faces and there was uncertainty over how good they could be before the season. Converted wide receiver Jamal Haynes is the 5th leading rusher in the ACC and true freshman Eric Singleton Jr is one of the top wide receivers in the ACC.

Georgia Tech was among the worst offenses in the country this year, but Faulkner has been able to completely revitalize it. Georgia Tech is fourth in the ACC in PPG, 3rd in the ACC in rushing, and 3rd in total offense. They have playmakers at every position and the offensive line has seen a huge improvement. Faulkner has done a great job with this unit this season after coming over from Georgia
