Georgia Tech opens as a touchdown underdog vs Wake Forest
Georgia Tech battled back last night in Oxford, but the Yellow Jackets could not stop the Ole Miss offense in the second half and pulled away to win 48-23. The offense was solid and could have been better if they had converted some early red zone opportunities. Again, The big issue was the defense, which allowed nearly 600 yards of offense. While Ole Miss would win by 25 points, Georgia Tech had it within a touchdown in the 4th quarter and the game was closer than the final score made it seem.
The Yellow Jackets have been an underdog in two of the three games they have played and that is not going to change this upcoming Saturday. Georgia Tech is hitting the road again and will travel to Wake Forest on Saturday and they will do so as eight-point underdogs according to Circa Sports.
The Demon Deacons are 3-0 after defeating Old Dominion this week, but they are fortunate to still be without a loss. ODU led the game by double-digits at one point in the game, but Wake Forest was able to mount the comeback. The Demon Deacons also have wins over Elon and Vanderbilt. This is going to be the toughest test this season for Wake Forest.
Georgia Tech leads the all-time series against Wake Forest 23-8, but the two teams have not met since 2017. Georgia Tech has a three-game winning streak against the Demon Deacons, with the last win by Wake Forest coming in the 2006 ACC Championship game. Dave Clawson has built a tremendous program at Wake Forest and this will be a tough test for Brent Key's team.
Kickoff against Wake Forest this Saturday will be at 6:30 on The C.W Network.
