Georgia Tech opens as big underdog against No. 17 Ole Miss
Georgia Tech is fresh off of a dominant performance against South Carolina State, but one of the Yellow Jackets toughest games will be upcoming this Saturday.
The Yellow Jackets are taking a trip to Oxford this weekend to play No. 17 Ole Miss. The Rebels are 2-0 to start the season and just earned a win on the road against Tulane. This is the second half of a home and home series with Ole Miss and the Rebels won big in Atlanta last season, 42-0.
This year, the sportsbooks are expecting another big win for Ole Miss. On both Circa Sports, Ole Miss is going to be a 17 point favorite.
Ole Miss outgained Georgia Tech 547-214 in the last matchup and most of the Yellow Jackets yards came in the second half. The Rebels had a powerful ground game led by Quinshon Judkins and Zach Evans and containing Judkins is going to be a tough ask for this defense.
However, Brent Key has a solid track record as a a big underdog as a head coach. Last season when he was the interim head coach, Georgia Tech was a three-touchdown underdog against both Pitt and North Carolina and won both games outright. Georgia Tech also covered as eight point underdogs against Louisville this year.
The offense for Georgia Tech could be the reason this game could stay close. Haynes King is off to a hot start as the new quarterback and Georgia Tech has looked explosive through the air and the ground. Running back Jamal Haynes has been a pleasant surprise and the wide receivers have been playmakers through two games.
Georgia Tech vs Ole MIss will kick off this Saturday at 7:30 on SEC Network
