Georgia Tech's Eric Singleton Jr a glaring omission from ESPN's top 25 True freshmen list

Singleton has been one of the best wide receivers in the ACC

Georgia Tech is currently 2-3 and coming off of a tough loss against Bowling Green last week, but there have been some bright spots for the Yellow Jackets.

The passing attack has been very good this season. One of the main reasons for that is true freshman wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. Singleton has become a starter for the Yellow Jackets now and is sixth in the ACC in receiving yards with 335 yards, trailing Virginia's Malik Washington (556 yards), Louisville's Jamari Thrash (444 yards), Miami's Xavier Restrepo (355 yards), Virginia's Malachi Fields (355 yards), and Boston College's Lewis Bond (350 yards). Singleton averages 18.6 yards per catch and is tied for second in the ACC with five touchdown catches.

Singelton leads all true freshman in the ACC in receiving and receiving touchdowns. He has been one of the best wide receivers in the conference and is only scratching the surface of his potential.

However, I don't think he is getting the attention he deserves.

ESPN released their top 25 true freshmen in the county yesterday and Singleton's name was nowhere to be found. There were plenty of other receivers or tight ends that were on the list, including some in the ACC and I can argue that none of them are having as good of a season as Singleton is.

At No. 14 on the list is NC State wide receiver Kevin Concepcion, who is a very good player and someone who has a bright future. He has 23 catches for 245 yards and two touchdowns this season to go along with two touchdowns. Singleton has more yards, touchdowns, and yards per catch than he does and Singleton has a touchdown catch in every game, while Concepcion's touchdowns came in one game.

Another true freshman wide receiver on the list is Clemson's Tyler Brown, one of the lone bright spots on the Tiger's offense. Brown has 21 catches for 316 yards this season for two touchdowns while averaging 15 yards per catch. Singleton outperforms him in every category except catches. Brown had a big breakout performance against Syracuse last week and I think he could be in line for more of those this season, but Singleton has had a better season than he has up to this point.

Notre Dame wide receiver Jaden Greathouse is No. 25 on the list and for the season, he has 12 catches for 166 yards and three touchdowns while averaging 13.8 yards per catch. Again, Singleton has performed better in every category.

Vanderbilt wide receiver London Humphreys is No. 19 on the list and while he is averaging over 24 yards per catch, he has 12 catches for 299 yards and three touchdowns. Singleton is outperforming him and Georgia Tech is arguably a better team than Vanderbilt.

USC tight end Duce Robinson is on the list at No. 21 and the five-star player is going to be a star in college football, but his stats pale in comparison to what Singleton has done this season. Robinson has eight catches for 186 yards and one touchdown while averaging 23.3 yards per catch. Most of his production has come in the second half of blowouts as well.

All of the players on this list are making an impact on their teams and look like future stars in their programs. However, Singleton is having an exceptional season so far and for him to not be included on the list of the top true freshmen in the country is a shame and hopefully with more big performances this season, he can start to get more consideration as one of the country's top young players.
