What a day it has been in college football.

After back-and-forth speculation, Oregon and Washington opted to leave the Pac-12 for the Big 10 and Arizona was officially a member of the Big 12. It had been heavily speculated that Arizona State and Utah would join them, but that did not become official until later.

According to Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports, the ACC presidents were scheduled to meet tonight to further discuss the league's expansion. Dellenger also said that the recent Big 12 acquisitions likely ended any westward expansion plans and that the league seriously considered adding 5-7 Pac-12 schools.

This would have been quite the development if it had come through, but with the Pac-12 disintegrating and the Big 12 and Big 10 growing stronger, it leaves the ACC in a precarious position and there does not appear to be a clear path for them to go down.

This news also comes on the heels of Florida State's Board of Trustees meeting this week, where the Seminoles made their displeasure with the conference known:

"FSU helps to drive value and will drive value for any partner, but we have spent a year trying to understand how we might fix the issue. There are no easy fixes to this challenge, but a group of us have spent literally a year. We've explored every possible option that you can imagine. The issue at hand is what can we do to allow ourselves to be competitive in football and get what I think is the revenue we deserve?"

"This continues to be a very difficult issue. There's a lot going on in the world of conference realignment. My current assessment of the situation after very deep analysis is I believe FSU will have to at some point consider very seriously leaving the ACC unless there were a radical change to the revenue distribution"

After a day like today, nobody knows what is going to happen with conference realignment. The ACC's future is going to be a point of speculation for the foreseeable future.
